SPLIT SECOND COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. soft butter
1 unbeaten egg
2 tsp. vanilla

Put in bowl flour, baking powder and sugar. Blend in butter, egg and vanilla. Form into 4 rolls (3/4-inch thick, 13-inch long). Place 4-inches apart on cookie sheet. With knife handle, make dent down center of each roll. Fill this dent with jelly or jam.

Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes. While warm, cut diagonally.
