CHERRY NUT ROUND BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. drained maraschino cherries

Grease 2 (1 pound) coffee cans. Combine all ingredients, except nuts and cherries, with electric beaters. Beat 1 minute on low. Stir in nuts and cherries. Spoon into cans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from cans.
