CHERRY-APPLE NUT BREAD 
1/3 c. butter, softened
2/3 c. sugar
1 c. applesauce
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. chopped nuts
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. grated lemon rind
1/3 c. chopped maraschino cherries

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients (except cherries and nuts). Blend well. Stir in cherries and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
