CHERRY-NUT APPLESAUCE BREAD 
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/3 c. chopped maraschino cherries, drained
1 egg
1 (1 lb.) container applesauce
2 tbsp. salad oil
Dash nutmeg
Maraschino cherries, drained and quartered

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and salt together. Stir in walnuts and chopped cherries.

Combine egg, 1 cup applesauce and salad oil and blend well. Blend in flour mixture.

Turn into greased 9x5x3 inch pan and bake in 350 degree oven 1 hour or until loaf tests done. Cool 10 minutes on cake rack, then remove from pan; cool thoroughly.

At serving time, combine remaining applesauce, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and the nutmeg. Spread evenly over loaf. Garnish with quartered maraschino cherries. Makes 9x5x3 inch loaf.
