1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. melted butter
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 c. flour
2 sqs. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream butter and sugar; add egg. Stir in chocolate. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Drop 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 5 minutes. Ice when cold with chocolate icing.
