| BAKED APPLE SURPRISE | |

4 Granny Smith apples (large) 1/3 c. Grape Nuts 1/3 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. soft butter Pinch of salt Core apples and peel a bit off top. Grease bottom of a shallow pan, set apples in it. Combine remaining ingredients, fill apple cavities. Cover bottom of pan with water. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until done. | |

My grandmother has this exact recipe in her old cookbook notes. I think it is the same one that was printed on the back of the old school Grape Nuts cereal boxes. Too bad they don't put it on their boxes again. Very good recipe for Fall.
