BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 qt. sliced cucumbers
6 sliced onions
Salt
1 1/4 qt. cider vinegar
5 c. sugar
1/2 c. mustard seeds
1 tbsp. celery seeds
1 1/2 tbsp. turmeric
Red and green sweet peppers

To sliced medium large cucumbers, add sliced onions. Salt and allow to stand 3 hours. Then drain. In the cider vinegar, put sugar, mustard seeds, celery seeds, turmeric, the red and green pepper cut fine if desired. Bring these spices and vinegar to boil. Add the cucumbers. Heat but do not boil. Pack into sterilized jars and seal at once.
