BREAD BUTTER PICKLES 
25-30 med. size cucumbers, sliced thin
2 lg. sweet peppers, sliced or chopped
8 lg. onions
1/2 c. pickling salt
5 c. cider vinegar
5 c. sugar
2 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves

Combine cucumbers, onion, and peppers and salt. Add ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours. Drain. Combine vinegar, sugar, spices in a large kettle. Bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers. Heat thoroughly but do not boil. Pack while hot into sterilized jars and seal.
