BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt. sliced cucumbers (do not peel)
6 med. onions, sliced
2 green or red sweet peppers, chopped
3 cloves fresh garlic, chopped
1/3 c. pickling salt
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed
3 c. cider vinegar

Mix cucumbers, onions, pepper, garlic and salt together in large pan. Cover with ice and let stand for 3 hours. Cover with cloth also! Drain well. Combine other ingredients and pour over cucumbers and heat to boiling. Put into hot jars and seal quickly. Makes about 8 pints. No processing.
