DUTCH BUTTER COOKIES 
3 sticks butter
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix butter and sugar until creamy; add egg and vanilla - beat well. Stir dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Roll into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Dampen a clean cloth and put over the bottom of a small drinking glass. Dip glass in sugar and gently press each ball. Bake 325 degrees 12-15 minutes until light gold around edges. Great Christmas cookies. Makes 5 dozen.
