HOLLANDSCHE KANEEL KOEKJES (OLD
DUTCH CINNAMON COOKIES)
 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tbsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. warm water
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tbsp. ginger
3 c. flour

Cream sugar and shortening, add molasses and soda dissolved in warm water. Sift flour with remaining dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Bake at 350 to 375 degree oven.
