1 c. butter
1 c. shortening
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
5 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, shortening and both sugars. Add eggs. Beat well. Add flour sifted with cream of tartar and soda. Add vanilla. Chill. Roll in small balls. Roll balls in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
