WHITE SUGAR COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract (optional)
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Granulated sugar

Mix confectioners' sugar, butter, egg, vanilla and almond extract thoroughly. Blend in flour, soda and cream of tartar. Cover; chill for 2-3 hours. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Divide dough in thirds. On lightly floured cloth-covered board roll each third of dough about 1/8 inch thick. Cut in desired shapes. Bake 7-8 minutes or until light brown on edges. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
