SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
1 egg
1/2 c. dark molasses
1/2 c. buttermilk

Grease baking sheet. Set oven at 400°F. Sift flour and mix with next five ingredients. Cream sugar and butter. Beat egg and molasses. Stir in flour and buttermilk alternately, beginning and ending with flour. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls on baking sheet. Bake about 10 minutes until delicate light brown. When cool, store in air tight jar.

Makes about 3 dozen.
