FRENCH GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE 
3/4 stick butter
1 lg. onion, thinly sliced
2 pkgs. frozen green beans, cooked
1 can bean sprouts
1 can water chestnuts
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 c. sharp cheese, grated
2 cans French fried onion rings
1/2 c. sherry wine, optional

Saute onion in butter until transparent. Drain beans, bean sprouts, and water chestnuts. Mix vegetables with soup; add wine and mix well.

Grease 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish with 1/4 stick butter. Pour mixture in dish; cover with grated cheese, then onion rings. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes.

Can be made a day ahead, adding cheese and onion rings when ready to bake. (I slice the water chestnuts.)
