FRENCH GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. chopped onion
2 (4 oz.) cans mushrooms, drained
1/2 c. mushroom liquor
1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c. butter
1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. milk
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
2 tsp. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce
2 pkg. green beans, thawed

In 1/2 cup butter saute onions, mushrooms and water chestnuts until tender. Set aside. Melt 1/4 cup butter, blend in flour, salt and pepper. Gradually add milk and mushroom liquor; stir until smooth and thickened. Add cheddar cheese, soy sauce and Tabasco sauce; stir until cheese melts.

Layer green beans and sauteed vegetables. Pour half of cheese mixture over it. Repeat beans, vegetables, and cheese mixture for second layer. Top with canned onion rings and bake at 350 degrees for at least 1 hour.
