LAYERED SALAD 
1 lg. head lettuce, torn to bits
1/4 c. green onions, chopped
1/4 c. celery, chopped
1 c. water chestnuts, sliced
1 pkg. frozen peas
2 c. mayonnaise
1 tbsp. sugar
3/4 c. cooked bacon, crumbled
3 hard boiled eggs, sliced
3 tomatoes, sliced (optional)
Parmesan cheese or grated Cheddar cheese

Place lettuce in a large bowl. Add onions, celery, chestnuts and peas in layers, with peas on top. Combine mayonnaise and sugar and spread over top of salad. Don't mix. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Before serving top with bacon, egg and tomato slices. Sprinkle with cheese. Do not toss.
