FRIED CORN 
4 slices bacon
3 c. fresh or frozen cob, cut from cob
1 1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. cold water

Fry bacon until crisp, drain, crumble and set aside. Drain all but 2 tablespoons from skillet. Add corn, 1 1/4 cups water, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cover and simmer 20 to 25 minutes.

Combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water, stirring until smooth. Stir into corn mixture and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Top with crumbled bacon before serving. Yield: 4 to 5 servings.
