POPPY SEED POUND CAKE 
1/2 c. poppy seeds
2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. butter, softened
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder

Soak poppy seeds in milk for at least 1 hour. Whip sugar and butter until fluffy. Combine flour and baking powder. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with milk and poppy seeds. Pour batter into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes.

For lemon or orange glaze melt 1 tablespoon butter. Add 2 tablespoons lemon or orange juice. Blend in 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Add more juice or sugar to taste.
