VANILLA BUTTER AND NUT POUND
CAKE
 
1 1/2 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. sugar
5 whole eggs
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla butter and nut flavor

Cream shortening thoroughly; add eggs one at a time and beat on high speed for 10 minutes. Add dry ingredients, flavoring and milk. Place in well greased and floured tube pan and place in a cold oven. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 25 minutes. Ovens vary, so it might be a little longer. This is also good to substitute coconut flavoring in place of the vanilla butter and nut flavoring. Then add 1 can of flaked coconut for a coconut pound cake.
