SIX WEEK BRAN MUFFINS 
2 c. water
5 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 qt. buttermilk
5 c. flour
1 tbsp. salt
4 c. All Bran cereal
2 c. 40% Bran Flakes
2 c. dates, chopped
1 c. walnuts, chopped

Add soda to boiling water; set aside and let cool. Cream shortening; add sugar; add eggs one at a time; stir in buttermilk then flour and salt; add water and soda and mix.

In large bowl, mix bran, flakes, dates and walnuts. Pour in buttermilk mixture and stir. Store in covered container and refrigerate. Spoon muffins into paper lined muffin tins without stirring. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
