FRENCH VANILLA WAFERS 
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 1/4 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. white vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt

Cream together butter, butter and powdered sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt; add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Divide dough in half. Form each half into 2-inch round roll. Wrap in waxed paper or aluminum foil.

Chill in refrigerator or freeze. Slice 3/8 inch thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 350 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes about 7 dozen.
