EASIER BAKED ACORN SQUASH
After decades of cutting myself or ruining a knife while attempting to cut through a raw winter squash, I developed this technique which works wonders.

1 whole Acorn squash
butter
brown sugar

While my ingredients are the same as others, my prep makes it far easier to do. Instead of struggling to cut the raw squash (or any hard winter squash), bake whole squash for 1/2 hour at 400°F.

Then, take semi-cooked squash from oven and cut your soft squash in half, spoon out the seeds and threads, fill the center with butter and brown sugar and continue baking until done. Timing depends on the size of acorn squash, but usually about 20 to 30 minutes more.

Thank you for posting this. I am about to do my first attempt at using an acorn squash. Was going to use Instant pot... but after reading the dangers of cutting squash in half... your post - fit the bill. Thank you again for posting...
