MOLASSES CAKE 
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. Brer Rabbit (Gold Label Molasses)
1/2 tbsp. Karo syrup
1 c. boiling water

Grease and flour bottom of 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Measure flour and sugar in mixing bowl. Cut in butter; mix until it looks like crumbs; remove 1/2 cup of this mixture and set aside. Add baking soda, molasses, Karo syrup and boiling water to remaining crumb mixture; mix thoroughly and pour into greased pan. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of crumbs over the top.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
