SHOOFLY CAKE 
4 c. flour (use 2 c. whole wheat flour and 2 c. white flour if desired)
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
2 c. boiling water
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. baking soda

Work flour, sugar and butter into fine crumbs. Set aside 1 1/2 cups crumbs for topping.

Mix water, molasses and baking soda together; add to remaining crumbs. Mix until batter is very thin yet still lumpy. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
