2 c. light brown sugar
4 c. flour
3/4 c. Crisco
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. baking soda

Crumb together the first 4 ingredients. Remove 1 cup of crumbs for top of cake. Beat 1 egg, molasses, boiling water and baking soda together. Add into crumbs and mix well. Put in cake pan (9x13) and sprinkle one cup of crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
