GRANDMA'S OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. hot water
3 c. quick oats
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

You may sour milk by adding 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1/2 cup milk. Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually and eggs one at a time. Dissolve baking soda in hot water; then blend into creamed mixture. Stir in all remaining ingredients just until blended. Divide batter into 12 greased muffin cups. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.
