SAUSAGE BREAD | |
1 lb. loaf frozen or fresh bread dough 12-16 oz. sausage meat 1 sm. onion, chopped 1 med. green pepper, chopped 8 oz. shredded mozzarella 3 eggs Thaw dough, if necessary. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown and scramble sausage meat. Drain. Saute onion and pepper in a bit of butter or microwave until tender and transparent. Beat 2 eggs; mix with meat, onion and pepper. Roll dough round like a pizza (about 15 inches in diameter). Put mixture on top. Sprinkle cheese on top. Roll and pinch ends. Place seam down on cookie sheet, shaping it like a "U". Beat remaining egg with one teaspoon water and coat top. Bake for about 1 hour. Cover with foil loosely after 30 minutes if browning too quickly. |
