RED VELVET CAKE 
2 oz. red cake coloring
3 tbsp. sweet milk chocolate
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

ICING:

1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. cane sugar
3 tbsp. flour
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix cake coloring and chocolate and set aside. Cream shortening, eggs and sugar. Combine creamed mixture with color paste. Add buttermilk, cake flour and salt. Mix well. Add vanilla, vinegar and soda. Mix well. Bake in 3 (8 inch) pans for 25 to 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Cool.

Icing: Cream together and mix well. Beat until fluffy.
