1 pkg. dry yeast 1/3 c. warm water 2/3 c. sugar 1/2 c. lard 1 2/3 c. warm water 2 lbs. plain flour Sift flour in large mixing bowl. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, measure lard and salt and work together as you would make biscuits using the remaining warm water. Put dough in large bowl to rise until doubled. Push down and put in refrigerator. About 3 hours. Before ready to serve, roll out on biscuit board and cut out about 3/4 inch thick. Put in buttered pan. Top with soft or melted butter. Let rise. Cook at 450 degrees for about 8 to 10 minutes according to how brown you like them. Makes about 50 rolls. Keeps 3 or 4 days. |
