BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING 
3 c. bread cubes (about 5 slices)
1/4 c. raisins
3 eggs
2 1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
Nutmeg

Toast bread slices, butter and cube. Layer cubes and raisins in 1 1/2 quart casserole. Set aside. Beat eggs. Stir in milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over cubes. Let stand 30 minutes. Sprinkle nutmeg on top.

Place casserole in shallow pan. Place in 350 degree oven. Fill pan with hot water about 1 inch up on sides of casserole. Bake until custard is set, 45-60 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
