3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. soft shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together thoroughly the sugar, soft shortening, egg and milk. Sift together remaining ingredients and stir in. Spread 1/2 of the batter in a pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of streusel mixture, add the remaining batter and sprinkle remaining streusel over top.

STREUSEL MIXTURE:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix ingredients together. Bake in a 9" square pan for 25 to 35 minutes at 375 degrees.
