HILMA'S SWEDISH TOAST | |
1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. finely chopped almonds 2 tsp. crushed cardamom seeds 2 eggs 2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. cultured sour cream Mix together like a cake and bake in 9 x 13 inch buttered pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. When cool, cut into 3 strips across pan and then cut each strip in half. Wrap each piece in foil and freeze. Remove from freezer as you need them, and cut into thin slices and lay singly on cookie sheet. Dry in slow oven, 275 degrees, until thoroughly crisp, turning so they brown evenly. |
