2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 stick butter
1/2 c. cocoa
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook sugar, milk and butter for 3 minutes; boil rapidly, stirring constantly. Add cocoa, oatmeal and vanilla; mix well. Remove from heat and beat well. Drop by teaspoon on waxed paper. Chopped nuts or coconut may be added. Good for children to do with adult help. (First recipe - first grade)
