DUTCH CAKE 
1 c. mashed potatoes
1 c. sugar
1 yeast cake dissolved in potato water
1 c. shortening
1 c. warm water
1 c. sugar (no mistake)
2 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs

Mix the ingredients as for bread. Add enough flour to make a soft bread dough. Knead well, let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Pan the dough and let rise. Bake 25 minutes at 425 degrees. Sprinkle with crumbs as for shoo-fly pie.
