OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. minute oats
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt

Add minute oats to 1 1/2 cups boiling water. Cook 1 minute, then set aside. Cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Add to creamed mixture: eggs, soda, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Mix well. Combine oatmeal mixture with above ingredients. Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

TOPPING FOR OATMEAL CAKE:

Combine and spread over baked cake while still warm: 1/4 c. evaporated milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. coconut 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Brown in the oven for 5 minutes.
