APPLE YUM-YUM CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped pecans
4 c. chopped apples
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and dry ingredients. Add nuts and apples last. Bake in 9x13 pan in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Serve warm with sauce and whipped cream. Following is the sauce:

1 c. white sugar
1 c. whipping cream
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter

Mix all together and bring to boil. Use double boiler or it may curdle. Serves 12-15.
