1 lb. raisins 3 c. water 1/2 c. lard or crisco 2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 4 c. flour In a large sauce pan, add water and raisins. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside one cup of the water. Let cool. Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl. Add crisco and raisins w/liquid to dry ingredients. Stir well. Add last cup of raisin liquid. Mix well and pour into 13 x 9 pan. Bake at 325°F for one hour. |
