APPLESAUCE DROP COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 c. thick applesauce
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg, unbeaten
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. chopped nuts

Mix raisins and applesauce and set aside. In mixing bowl combine sugar, shortening and egg and beat until fluffy. Stir in applesauce and raisins. Sift flour with salt, soda and spices. Add and mix well, then stir in nuts.

Drop the soft dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes. Makes about 4 dozen cookies that keep well.
