SWEDISH KRINGLER | |
1 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 1 tbsp. water 1 c. water 1/2 c. butter 1 c. flour 3 eggs 1 tsp. almond flavoring 1 c. powdered sugar 1 tbsp. butter, softened 1/4 tsp. almond flavoring 1-2 tbsp. cream 1/2 German chocolate bar (optional) 1 tbsp. butter (optional) Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix flour, butter and 1 tablespoon water to form pie crust. Pat onto cookie sheet in two 12 x 3 inch strips. Heat 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter in saucepan to boiling. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup flour until smooth. Cool a bit. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add 1 teaspoon almond flavoring. Divide mixture and spread onto the strips of crust-like frosting. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes (it puffs up); cool on rack. Glaze: Combine powdered sugar, butter, almond flavoring and cream to spreading consistency. Drizzle over pastries. Over glaze (optional) : Melt chocolate over low heat with butter. Drizzle over pastries. Makes 2 Kringler. |
