BRANDIED FRUIT COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
3 c. brandied fruit, drained
2 eggs
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans, chopped
2 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. brandied fruit juice
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. chopped dates

Cream shortening, sugar; add eggs. Mix well. Mix fruit with 1 cup of the flour. Add soda, salt, spice to the rest of the flour. Mix flour into the creamed mixture, along with the fruit juice. Add fruit, nuts and vanilla. Let set in refrigerator 2 hours, then drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake in 350 degree oven until done.
