CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1/3 c. cocoa 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2/3 c. oil 3/4 c. water 1/2 c. skim milk 1 tsp. vanilla 4 egg whites 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1 3/4 c. sugar Lightly oil two 9 inch cake pans. Line pans with waxed paper cut to fit the bottom of each pan. Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together. In a separate bowl mix oil, water, milk and vanilla together. Add to flour mixture and beat until well combined. Batter will resemble a thick paste. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and gradually add sugar, beating until egg whites form soft peaks. Fold egg whites into batter. Pour into prepared pans and bake in preheated 375 degree oven 25-30 minutes. May frost with White Cream Frosting. Makes 16 servings. 235 calories per serving. 360 calories per serving with White Cream Frosting. |
