1 pt. warm water 2 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. melted shortening 1 1/2 qt. flour Dissolve sugar and yeast in water. Stir in 2 cups flour; add salt and shortening. Beat hard; then add the remaining flour and let stand 10 minutes. Knead and work hard. Grease and cover and leave stand 20 minutes. Work, leave stand 20 minutes again. Put in pans; leave raise until very light. Bake at 375 degrees for 3/4 hour. Makes 2 loaves. |
