ROUND DEVIL DOGS 
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. dark cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
Confectioners' sugar

CREAM FILLING:

1/3 c. evaporated milk
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift first 6 ingredients in mixing bowl. Add next 4 ingredients and blend. Drop by teaspoons 2 inches apart on greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake 5 to 7 minutes at 425 degrees.

Dust each with confectioners sugar. Put two cookies together with filling.

FILLING: In mixing bowl, put 1/3 cup evaporated milk, 2/3 cup shortening, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat 5 minutes in electric mixer.

NOTE: This recipe was my children's favorite, now my grandchildren's.
