7 MINUTE ICING 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/3 c. cold water
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, cream of tartar, water, egg whites, and salt in double boiler. Beat with beater until well mixed. Place over boiling water. Beat and cook for 7 minutes or until peaks form when beater is lifted. Remove from boiling water. Stir in vanilla. Continue occasional beating until thick enough to spread.
