BUTTERCREAM ICING FOR DECORATING 
2 or 3 egg whites (2 lg. or 3 med.)
3 tbsp. water (omit water when using food coloring)
1 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla (may use clear vanilla)
2 tsp. butter flavoring (or more vanilla)
1 tsp. almond extract (opt.)
2 lbs. powdered sugar

Combine all and beat at low speed until smooth. For a more fluid icing, add 1 teaspoon Karo or corn syrup. This icing works well when using decorator tips - such as when making a Wilton cake.
