HILLBILLY CAKE 
Boil 1 cup raisins in 2 cups water, until 1 cup of liquid is left. While raisins are cooking mix in one bowl 1/2 cup Crisco, 1 egg and 2 cups sugar.

In another bowl mix 2 2/3 cup flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Put 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in warm raisin liquid and mix all ingredients together. (Add raisin mixture and 1 cup nuts to mixture last). Bake for about 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.

(Needs no icing, but if you prefer icing use powdered sugar and cream cheese icing).
