FRENCH FRIED ONION RINGS 
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
3 lg. onions
1 tbsp. melted Crisco
3/4 c. milk

Slice onions 1/4 inch thick; cover with cold water and let stand 30 minutes. Wipe dry and separate into rings. Sift flour; measure and sift with sugar and salt. Combine eggs and milk. Add to dry ingredients. Add fat. Mix thoroughly. Dip onion rings into batter and dry in deep fat until brown. Drain well on absorbent paper.
