CHICKEN STRATA 
6 slices white bread
2 c. cubed cooked chicken
1/2 c. chopped onions
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
1/2 c. mayonnaise
3/4 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
2 slightly beaten eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 can mushroom soup
1 c. shredded cheese

Butter 2 slices bread, cut into cubes and set aside. Cut remaining bread in 1 inch cubes and place in bottom of 8 x 8 x 2 baking dish. Combine chicken, vegetables, mayonnaise and seasonings. Spoon over bread cubes. Sprinkle remaining bread cubes over chicken mixture. Combine eggs and milk. Pour over all. Cover and chill for 1 hour or overnight. Spoon soup on top. Sprinkle with buttered cubes. Bake at 325 degrees for 60 minutes. Sprinkle cheese over top the last few minutes of baking. Let stand a few minutes before serving.
