APPLE CRISP 
Ceramic or tin pie plate
6-8 Granny smith or Cortland apples, peeled and chopped
2 c. old fashioned oatmeal
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 to 3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
Cranberries, if desired

Place chopped apples (and cranberries) in a baking dish. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon. Mix oatmeal, salt, brown sugar, nuts, and cinnamon together with the softened butter. Put on top of the apples. Press down to cover apples. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are soft. Serve warm or at room temperature.
